he Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) is India's national Scouting and Guiding organisation, a voluntary, non-political, and secular educational movement for young people. Founded on the principles laid down by Lord Baden-Powell in 1907, the movement is open to all without distinction of origin, race, or creed, and works towards the all-round development of young people as responsible citizens of their local, national, and international communities. Within this movement, Scouts and Guides refer to the section for young people typically between 10 and 17 years of age, who follow the motto "Be Prepared" as they build character, practical skills, and civic responsibility through structured troop activities. As members grow older, they progress into the Rover and Ranger section, meant for young men and women between 15 and 25 years of age. Rovers (for young men) and Rangers (for young women) represent the most senior wing of the movement, guided by the motto "Service." Having already absorbed the values of Scouting or Guiding, Rovers and Rangers take on greater responsibility, leadership, and community service, acting as a bridge between the structured training of younger sections and active, responsible adulthood

By 2023 Scouting will be the world's leading educational youth movement, enabling 100 million young people to be active citizens creating positive change in their communities and in the world based on shared values.
PURPOSE
he purpose of the movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social and Spiritual potentials as individuals responsible citizens as members of the Local, National and International communities.
Objectives
- To deepen the character, values, and life skills instilled during the Scout/Guide stage, helping members mature into responsible young adults.
- To engage Rovers and Rangers in sustained community service, social welfare, and nationbuilding activities such as health, hygiene, environmental, and awareness campaigns.
- To develop leadership, teamwork, and organisational abilities through crew/unit selfmanagement, project planning, and event execution.
- To promote adventure, fitness, and outdoor skills through treks, camps, and adventure programmes that build resilience and confidence
- To encourage civic responsibility and active citizenship, preparing members to participate constructively in society and, where relevant, in institutional and national programmes.
- To provide a structured pathway for members to progress through the stages of Rover/Ranger Aspirant, Rover/Ranger, and Rover/Ranger-in-Service, each with defined tests and responsibilities.
